Black and Beyond the Binary

At the intersection of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ identifiers stand a strong, beautiful and determined group of individuals, intent on thriving. In honor of the countless Black and queer people who have lost their lives at the hands of discrimination, Black and Beyond the Binary Collective in Portland, OR hired Daren Todd to design and produce a mural on the front face of their Southeast Portland location. This artwork juxtaposes a number of themes expressed by a meeting of Black and Brown queer members of the collective, who asked for an uplifting and positive mural.
