When winter comes, the Ice Shacks begin to appear on the frozen ice of the lakes & rivers of Canada.
To capture these photographs, I put on my nordic skis, and head out onto the ice with my camera.
Sometimes I find a solitary shack miles from any other, other times l come across a whole cluster of them, like a tiny village on a barren landscape.
This series is an ongoing multi-year project, with the aim of eventually creating a photobook.
The Ice Shacks are a little piece of Canadiana, a cultural archive of life in the North.
Captured with a Mamiya 7ii + Kodak Portra 800 film.
