Antarctica 05

Antarctica 05 pairs an upcycled glass sculpture with footage of pancake ice in the Southern Ocean. Pancake ice is a form of sea ice between liquid and solid states that makes the water look like a frozen undulating desert. The landscapes in Antarctica are so remote and untouched that it can feel like you are on another planet. As my eco-tourist travels left footprints in the snow I thought about how catastrophic the loss of the Antarctic Treaty would be. What an unregulated number of footprints could do to this pristine place. Antarctica is the cooling system of the planet and its damage is irreversible.
