Billabongs happen when a branch of a river forms a backwater or stagnant pool. They are typically from the main stream that overflowed during a flood.
Although these were empty when we were there, I can imagine how beautiful they are when filled with water.
Despite my nomadic life on the road, I know for certain that if it weren't for Robert´s bravely letting a traveling elf hop into his Outback pimped car, I would not have been able to get these shots. Very thankful to him!
