Lighthouses each give a unique pulse of their lights as the light rotates. The unique pulse tells ships what lighthouse they are looking at so they know where they are. I wanted to capture these light beams in a full rotation. I used a high ISO and relatively low shutter speed of 1/4 seconds and took shots successively for a full rotation. I then used photoshop to stack each image.
This guardian, the Cape May Lighthouse, sits at the southern tip of New Jersey and guides ships between the Delaware Bay and Atlantic Ocean. It has stood for over 160 years.
