'Shalom' marked a distinct breakthrough for me creatively. For a long time I used open source photos I found online to create portraits, but for 'Shalom' I decided to step far out of my comfort zone and paint the figure myself. While the initial painting was rough to say the least, once it was processed it had completely taken on a life of it's own that I could never have expected. Not only did it have a distinct flavor I hadn't seen in my work yet, but it also had a strange candidness to it; as though I had sat down a strange digital lifeform and photographed him.
