Reframing Sargent (Arms)

The Sargent Reframed Collection. ARMS An homage, a remix, and a response to John Singer Sargent's "Portrait of Lisa Colt Curtis" (1898). We stand on the shoulders of the old art masters, but now we have the means to do something more than  passively observe their paintings in museums. I sing of arms and the woman. Here, Lisa disarms the prim and proper portraits of fin de siècle society with a surrealist twirl.
