“This was at the facility where Michael Phelps trained on the outskirts of Baltimore. He would swim in the indoor Olympic-sized pool, but we decided to use their outdoor pool as it was a better location. What makes this an interesting image is that there was no water in this pool as it was March. I think it was maybe 10 feet deep at this end, so I could stand in the pool and get a very low angle that no one could have imagined, including myself. I put him on the starting block as if he was ready to dive in. The sun was directly behind him, and we lit him with a strobe and boom! You get this image.”
