Vegetation always overcomes construction with the passage of time. It’s a beautiful metaphor that the shape of the concrete being destroyed is pretty similar to the shape of a growing tree and its branches.
During a residence in Marseille in 2018, we were living in an old reconverted convent where there was a chapel. There were neither symbols nor statues or icons on it, and the place where all the saints should be was filled with concrete.
I took a panoramic picture of the bricked up wall of 15 pictures and put them together. For the leaves, I recorded videos of some of them outside in the near trees and then inserted them in the picture to create the loop.
