The artwork is inspired by the cult of the dead, present in Mexican culture. All my life I have been surrounded by imagery concerning death. In every street market throughout the country it is common to find skull-shaped crafts in all kinds of patterns, colors and materials. It is an inheritance of pre-Columbian cultures reinterpreted for generations. The display of creativity in these designs is huge, and the styles found are very diverse. I find it interesting the way craft masters use a wide range of vibrant colors to decorate the death in contrast with the way other cultures depict death as something dark and negative.
