In “Neighbors”, we see a series of human heads change features, hair length, hair color, and move in a slow rhythm between dance and trance. These heads turn towards and away from each other, becoming joined to others at the shoulder level and then separating again. Yuma Kishi questions how an intellect that cannot have a body would interpret our bodies. As physical communication becomes increasingly rare through the digitalization of society and the effects of the pandemic, this work asks how an intelligence different from ours might interpret us and our connections.
