This photograph is part of my project Covers which documents record covers shot in various locations around the world. Since 2014 I have tracked down the locations of these record covers and re-photographed them in their original setting, decades later. This photograph of Smiley Culture’s Cockney Translation record was taken on Plough road, Battersea, London SW11 David Emmanuel aka Smiley Culture died 10 years ago while in Police Custody. On 15 March 2011, Police conducted a botched raid that led to the death of the British reggae star.
