Screensaviors

Screensavers were once a mainstream genre of digital imagery, combining functionality with ambient entertainment. Today, their functional aspect is gone. What remains is the idea of the computer slipping into a meditative state after some period of inactivity. Instead of screensavers that provide technical protection, these images offer spiritual escapism for the computer. The computer will dream of a digital cosmos, of rendered talismans, and of protective pixels.
