Heat Wave

It was so hot in the city that the asphalt melted. The buildings sagged, and even the concrete sidewalks turned liquid under the relentless sun. But one day, a woman came with a hose and started spraying water on the city. The people continued as if nothing had happened, going about their business as the water gradually made everything cool again. Some people said that she was a miracle worker, that she had saved the city from ruin. But others said she was just a crazy woman who didn't know what she was doing.
