“Wax on, wax off” said the sensei as his eager student stood confused wondering what he would learn about fighting from washing his teacher’s car. But the student trusted his instructor and soon became a great fighter. Similarly, a certain eager acrobatic sidekick will do anything to learn his crime-fighting hero’s ways. Over time the reluctant caped crusader grows to like his over enthusiastic sidekick and helps him become a hero in his own right. But it all begins with the basics, as the teacher tells the student “wax on, wax off.” Depicted in Jose Delbo’s classic black and white inking style.
