“El Pit” is a 40m deep cenote located within the jungle of Mexico.
The structure of this cenote consists of stalactites, which come in all shapes and sizes. However, the most impressive moments to be witnessed are when the sunlight infiltrates the gash and rays of light shoot through the cenote.
Once descending in the middle of “El Pit”, you will dive through a shallow halocline which then leads you to a hydrogen sulfide cloud that rests at around 30m. When the sulfide cloud gets illuminated, otherworldly scenes start to unfold in front of your eyes.
