Beyond Memes

When I got this commission for a Portrait as Mfer I realized that in our culture Memes are acceptable as a description of oneself. Memes have two functions. On the one hand they express common shared and acceptable emotions. On the other hand they serve as a mask to hide behind. This portrait is based on a combination of photos that the person gave me of himself and the Mfer concept. It creates a unique individual meme that is more expressive and less of a mask.
