GMC ESCHER

My name is Maurits Cornelis Escher, but I am more commonly known as M.C. Escher. I was born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands on June 17th, 1898. Though I did not have a particularly happy childhood, it was during this time that my interest in graphic design and art developed. Growing up in the Netherlands, I always had a passion for drawing. As a child, I was fascinated by the way that shapes and patterns could be combined to create something new and beautiful. It was this interest that ultimately led to my career as a graphic designer and artist.
