Vultures are under threat everywhere as they are seen by many as a plague. Many cattle farmers misunderstand and think that vultures kill livestock. However, vultures feed on carcasses. Due to being prosecuted their populations are dwindling heavily and it’s become quite rare to find them in national parks. And while they are not the prettiest birds, they play a very important role in the eco-system. This red-headed vulture was picking away at a carcass as we noticed it out in between the dry grass. It looked up for a moment, allowing me to get this shot, before it continued to consume its meal.
