Something Desired

The pilgrims sat and watched with glee As the coal transformed, right before their eyes It became something magical, something new A sight they never thought they'd view The coal had turned to glittering gold A gift they never thought they'd behold They danced and sang and laughed with joy As the coal burned, they did employ Detriti, bony and cold She watched with surprise, as the story was told The pilgrims had found a way to turn her gift Into something that gave them a lift And so, Detriti left with a smile Knowing that the pilgrims had gone the extra mile To make the most of what they were given And find happiness, in the life they were living
