I love how in a lot of these pictures the ‘subject’ is on the border of the frame with all attention going to the empty road or the skidmarks.
The landscape has changed dramatically in Belgium. If you would take the same picture again today, you would end up with a horizon filled with houses. Very little open space left, apart from some exceptions.
Chalk was used to visualize the trajectory of the vehicles involved.
In these photographs it often creates a focus point where otherwise there would be none.
Sometimes the chalk almost seems burnt into the image.
Pure white in sharp contrast to the brutality of a car crash.
