While You Were Sleeping

Every outdoor photographer knows it. For a perfect landscape or cityscape shot, you need 3 elements, aligned in perfect synchronicity: light, subject, and composition. In one fateful moment, at the press of a shutter button, they click together, and you have it. Magic. But how rarely does it ever happen? It can elude you for years, no matter how hard you chase it. I named this picture ‘While You Were Sleeping’. Those were literally my thoughts, as I was climbing and cursing the 98 floors of the tallest tower in Abu Dhabi with my heavy camera gear, at 3am, to be on top and ready to shoot at daybreak.
