Screech

There are moments in nature you will never forget and this encounter was surely one of them! It was so amazing hiking along the forest trail and spotting a pair of Screech Owls in the trees. Suddenly, seven other owlets appeared and hopped along in the branches across the creek from me. I sat in awe as this family interacted with one another for awhile, not seeming worried about my presence at all. It was my first time witnessing and photographing this owl species. They are found east of the Rockies in woods, suburbs, and parks, but are elusive birds. Given their size, they can be very hard to spot.
