A strange yet perfect sense of calm sets in while heading up this remote New Zealand valley. The sun sets low on the horizon illuminating the snow-capped peak and also gives incredible depth and beauty to the sky. There's a beauty here I've never seen before, a savage elemental magnificence that speaks of the arrogance of eternity. The gushing sound of multiple small streams feeding the main flow of the powerful and relentless river, the remains of an incredible glacier that carved this special landscape, from a time we can only imagine.
