Part of my series of abstracts based on in-game screengrabs. Each piece has the title of the game it’s based on. This piece is ripped from a post-apocalyptic RPG.
I'm interested in exploring the visceral attraction and metaphysics of game worlds. I spent many hours losing myself in games and these worlds still fascinate.
The image starts as a screengrab. I ‘atomise’ it, reducing the image to coloured points of light. I then extrude the points into a 3rd dimension using a light distribution mesh. Then layer multiple extrusions over each other. The original game shot is used as background and the ‘atoms’ in the foreground. Finally I run it through an AI, giving a painterly warp to details....
