The Light Leads the Way by Kristin Piljay

The coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) has long been my favorite tree. This species is included among the tallest trees that exist, reaching up to 379 feet (115.5 m). Walking through a redwood forest feels like you are in a cathedral built by nature. It is awe-inspiring, majestic and serene. I first visited Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park in July 2009 and witnessed some amazing sunbeams. After visiting the area several times over the years, it wasn't until July 2021 that I saw them again.
