Communist propaganda is radically homoerotic. It often portrays men embracing or kissing. It’s a queer miracle that some of these works made it through censorship. Today, the Communist term “Comrade” has even been co-opted by the queer community in China. This collection is a queer Chinese woman's reimagining of Cold War Era propaganda through an intersectional lens.
