The Tuning of the World

The title “The Tuning of the World” is taken from the classic text on soundscapes by R Murray Schafer. This book has been deeply influential in my own practice, though the documents in this series are not about sound. Instead they are about imaging technologies and their ability to shape perception. Each of the images in Series 1 is a landscape, processed, cropped and aligned following the common “rule of thirds” standard. This is the world as seen by machines. My hope is that the mediation organizes the world in a way that gives the viewer space to reflect on the massive fields that makes these scenes possible.
