Nicole Buffett - Eastern Alchemy

These paintings are made of medicinal Chinese herbs ranging from Ginseng, Chrysanthemum, Rose, Goji berries, cinnamon and Earth based raw pigments and traditional art mediums on wood. This work is meant to evoke and articulate the journey of the Bodhisaatva, the aspect of selflessness and compassion. All of these paintings currently live in Beijing. I made these paintings as an offering to China, a place where little is imported versus the typical transaction of things being made and exported from China.
