It was September 2016 and I was only a couple years into my photography journey and went out shooting late in the afternoon. I knew there were aurora forecast and decided to check out an area west of the city called 6 mile hill. I bumbled around like one does upon going to a new spot looking for nice compositions. One of the little lakes in this area is called Morgan Lake, a manmade lake which actually covers the old trans-Canada highway. I had set up here as the sun began to set in anticipation of the possibility of aurora. I shot the sunset and then I sat for hours as it got dark.
