Abstract Candles

Abstract Candles is a collection of digital paintings inspired by candlestick charts, used by traders to determine possible price movement based on past patterns. They have a long history and were developed in the 18th century by a Japanese rice trader. The series explores abstract colorful compositions based on trading patterns. My first impression of candlestick charts was probably very different from most people. I wasn’t even trying to understand the chart pattern.
