Familiar Places

Familiar Places is a project I started when I was leaving New York, my forever home, in search of new experiences. Recently, my mother has put my childhood home up for sale. When I am there, I am flooded with memories, my father, now passed, dropping his keys on the glass coffee table when he arrived home from work, figuring out how to get my sister out of her crib to watch cartoons. I feel a sense of urgency to document this transition. Over time, I have gone back to New York for many things, but there have been a lot of funerals; my mother’s partner, my grandfather, my ex-husband, my stepdaughter, Hallie.
