Philson Volume One

Philson’s first collection of limited-edition NFTs begins with a study from Aenigma, a new body of work that continues the artist’s exploration of material and composition. The original physical piece, Study N.03, is composed of colorful sculptural blocks that are meticulously puzzled together within the rectangular frame, a process that recalls topics of improvisation, chance and control present in the artist’s earlier works. To create the composition, Philson layers colors of pigment to create striated slabs that resemble natural wood in texture and hardness, with natural markings, grooves and divots, and rough, brittle edges that are reminiscent of tree bark.
