Dear Julia

“Dear Julia” is a collection of images that detail my experience with isolation. I named the character in this series Juila, after my favorite song by a band called Mt. Joy. I created these images to help me cope with a depressive episode. I had loss my sense of community and experienced a debilitating sense of isolation. Trying to capture my feelings of isolation made me drive from Texas to the White Sands National Park in New Mexico. The vast emptiness of the park perfectly captured how alone I felt.
