Soul Raps

The Soul Raps Collection is an unfolding music exhibit by JP Reynolds. Each installment features previously discarded work created between 2017 and 2021. Displaying a development of identity through voice and sound, these tracks give insight into the artist’s evolving interior. With storytelling lyrics that explore cultural, romantic, spiritual, and ideological meaning blended with a bevy of soulful soundscapes and varied song structures, each piece is tied together by the mindstate of a young Black American man on a journey to be. This collection is dedicated to the artist’s grandparents - Ellis Harrison Reynolds, Jessie B. Reynolds, Henry A. Freeman, and Louise D. Freeman.
