As a cinematographer, I believe the essence of a story can often be captured in one shot, one moment. I got my first camera—a Kodak 110 Instamatic—when I was just 7 years old. I later upgraded to a Pentax K1000, followed by some digital still cameras, but as I became more immersed in filmmaking, I found myself taking fewer and fewer still photographs. This pandemic has brought challenges, but it has also ushered in opportunities for artists, directors, producers, and so many others to find new avenues for creative expression.
