They say you need people You need the help they might render For this, you'd need to conform Pretend to be who we are not Wear a smile but beneath is a frown Make jokes to disguise discomfort And they think you a hoot, a proper clown But then all you want to do is get out Away from the crowd, back into your own space They call it a shell but it's home to you A different species but expected to act in the norm Now I'm triggered, writing my own narrative For I enjoy my time with myself And myself wouldn't lie to me In Solitude, I am better In Solitude, I can exist as whatever.
