'I find the big things by the side of our roads bizarre. The way we build giant fruit, or a sheep, a lobster, a boot. On a road trip some time ago I went to the big banana and had a bad banana. That same year I had a solo show coming up and decided to create a ceramic plate that communicated my absurd experience. The face on this plate I later named Mekong, has since floated free from the ceramic and onto a number of different mediums. You could say Mekong is living in a kind of Wonderland, appearing and disappearing at will — taking part in only those things that are of interest.'...
