RECLAIMING POWER

After being with a man I truly loved for the first time in a country like Nigeria where it is punishable to be gay, I took these beautiful pictures at his place and posted them on my private Facebook page. Someone from my school found the pictures and sent them to a popular school blogger without my consent. I woke up the next morning to death threats and cyber bullying because the blogger had posted my nude pictures with a caption that incited students to totally dehumanize me. I was forced into deactivating my Facebook account that day. It is three years now and I am still recovering from the trauma and the shame I felt for just wanting to show the beauty I am.
