Every equinox they danced in the moonlight, heralding the arrival of spring. The witches were goddesses, disguised as humans, for they wanted to see if the humans warranted their boons. They were vices personified, the judge, jury and the executioner. They had fury in their veins, kindness in their hands, they were serene and yet seeing the truths hidden. They waited to see what the humans reaped from what they sowed.
