TUPI OR NOT TUPI

This collection is fruit of my collaboration with the artist IamtheAstra. The photoshoot is inspired by her artwork, Crise de Identidade, and it is a self-portrait based on the lithography of Carlota Joaquina of Spain as Princess of Brazil (1808). The title of the collection ‘Tupi or not Tupi: That is the question.’ extracted from the Manifesto Antropofágico (Andrade, 1928-1929), and is a homage to the Tupi culture, that is one of the main tribes of Brazilian Indigenous and also one of the largest indigenous linguistic branches in the country.
