Sometimes you live in a place all your life and never really see the place. In the summer of 2021 we tried to escape the pandemic by heading to the ocean and the adjacent Hoh Rain Forest. The Hoh River runs from Mount Olympus to the Pacific Ocean and is surrounded by a lush coastal rain forest. Moss, burls, feathery lichen, and shelf mushrooms create other-worldly experiences as you stroll through the forest. On a bright day, light scatters through the dense canopy. The dark and heavy features of the rain forest contrast with the powerful waves crashing on the pacific beaches littered with the trunks of massive fallen trees.
