錢，經濟地位的肯定，所有鈔票一律平等；身份證，政治權利的確認，有些身份卻比其他身份更平等。
半世紀前，普普藝術之父以金錢為主題，透過絲印技術複製出反映美國夢的金錢本色。為什麼當年安迪華荷複製一元紙幣？最簡單直接的答案，是因為愛財：

群眾和複製，乃現代主義兩大元素。問題是，為什麼當年安迪華荷只諂媚消費主義，而不同時複製美國人的政治身份認同呢？答案更簡單直接：美國人從來沒有身份證！原來，鈔票有過千年歷史，身份證卻是上世紀才普及。時至今日，38個經濟合作暨發展組織的成員國當中，6個還是沒有身份證。以英國為例，身份證是上世紀兩次世界大戰期間英國人政治權利的確認。戰後，英國人取消了身份證，英女皇更連護照也沒有。
作為英國殖民地，香港在1949年推出身份證是對當時難民潮的回應。自1952年，沒有身份證的英女皇的肖像曾出現過在英國、加拿大、澳洲、新西蘭、巴哈馬等10多個國家或地區的鈔票上，香港亦是其中一份子。又是為了宣示主權，「九龍皇帝」的墨寶亦曾遍佈全港，曾灶財的肖像卻只出現過在他的身份證上。九...
