The 1950s were a time of great change for women. In the post-World War II era, many women were leaving the home and joining the workforce. This new found independence led to a change in fashion and lifestyle. Hairstyles in the 1950s were all about glamour. Women wanted to look their best and they achieved this with big, voluminous hairstyles. The most popular hairstyle was the beehive.
